This full gut renovation of a single-family home in Bridgewater, New Jersey, reimagines an aging 1980s house as a contemporary residence rooted in longevity, craftsmanship, and everyday comfort. The design preserves the home's inherent qualities—its generous natural light and connection to the surrounding landscape—while reorganizing the interior to create a more open, functional, and adaptable living environment.

From the outset, the clients' primary goal was to create a home whose materials would extend the life of the house both physically and culturally. Durable, timeless materials such as natural stone, solid wood, and high-quality finishes were selected for their resilience and low maintenance, as well as for their ability to acquire character over time. The renovation embraces a restrained, enduring material palette that fosters a lasting emotional connection between the family and their home, ensuring the house remains relevant and cherished for generations.
